By Aniekan Umanah AKSG PRESS RELEASE (Posted: April 1, 2011) The people of Mkpat Enin local government area in Akwa Ibom State have applauded the State Governor, Chief (Dr.) Godswill Akpabio over the mobilization of Setraco Nigeria Ltd to commence the construction of Ikot Abia-Ikot Etefia road a week after his pledge to the people of the area. The excitement of Mkpat Enin people was encapsulated in the remarks of their executive chairman, Mr. Mfon Nkanteen, while welcoming staff and heavy duty equipment of Setraco to the project site, yesterday. According to Mr. Nkanteen, commencement of the road project is indicative of Governor Akpabio’s commitment towards ensuring that all parts of the state, including Mkpat Enin is linked through quality road network. “The entire community is so excited including myself, and at the same time, we appreciate our dear governor, who we know is a promise keeper. To this end, from what we have seen today, we will return him back to Hilltop mansion, come April 16, 2011.” He vowed. Other community leaders who spoke with reporters including former transition chairman and secretary of council, Mr. Ubong Ekwere Inyang, house leader of Mkpat Enin legislative council, Apostle Obong Udo Obong, Director of works in the council, Engr. Uwem Dan and others were full of excitement over the project. Furthermore, youths of the area, who thronged the project site, were full of expectation as they view the project as a long awaited opportunity to employ various skilled workers and experts from the area including masons, mechanics, drivers of heavy duty vehicles, carpenters and others. They also pledge their unalloyed support towards the second term of the state governor. Meanwhile, Engr. Charbel, the site engineer of Setraco was full of optimism over the project which he enthused will be completed on schedule and according to specification.
