By Essien Ndueso The South South zonal Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has described as unprecedented, the monumental achievements recorded so far by the Godswill Akpabio led administration in the state. Passing their verdict last week while inspecting project sites in the state, the team led by the Zonal Chairman, South South of the party, Chief Edet Mkpubre which also included, the zonal secretary, Mr. Joe E. Willie, zonal Treasurer, Mr. Yekini Nabeua, zonal auditor, Mr. Akan Okon, said Chief Akpabio has made the party proud following his achievements in office, describing him as a "good material to sell". Chief Mkpubre who said his team was undertaking a tour of the PDP controlled states in the zone, noted that Akwa Ibom State was leading in the zone. He expressed satisfaction that the governor was justifying the mandate given to him by the electorates and he has kept faith with the people. In his observation, the Zonal Party Secretary, and member of the Zonal Working Committee, Mr. Joe Willie said he was overwhelmed by the level of infrastructural development witnessed in the state. He described Chief Akpabio as a leader who is committed to the overall development of his people. The South South Zonal Secretary of the party urged other parts of the country to emulate Chief Akpabio whom he noted has brought democracy dividends to the citizenry. On his part, another member of Zonal Working Committee of the party, and Zonal Treasurer of the party South South, Mr. Yekini Nabena lauded the governor on the road network in the state. He expressed confidence that the governor will continue in the same vigour beyond 2011. He was hopeful that his (Akpabio’s) achievements will secure him a second term mandate from the people of the state. The visiting team was conducted round the projects sites by the State PDP Chairman, Prince Uwem Ita Etuk, Special Assistants to the Governor on Project Monitoring, Dr. Enefiok Edem, Akparawa Nse Ubeh, Mr. Mfoniso Essien Mr. Ettetim Awatim, among others. Sites visited by the team included, the ongoing flyover project at Itam, dualized Ekim Itam road, Nung Udoe, Use Ikot Amama road, Nung Udoe Itak road and the completed bridge in Iyire, the e-library projects which has reached advanced stage of completion, the ongoing Tropicana Entertainment Centre, along Udo Udoma, Uyo, Ito road, Atan road, Market road, Chubb and Etok Akpan road, Queen street, and Cardinal Ekanem Avenue, which had since been commissioned for use. The team inspected Ikot Ekpene, Abak Highway, a federal road, constructed by the state government, as well as Afaha-obong – Etim Ekpo - Iwukem – Urua Inyang road and the bridge which has been completed.
